Kevin Garnett is as tough as NBA player can be: He doesn’t smile (never, ever unless he’s expressing sarcasm at the refs), he plays 110% on every single play, he never backs down and so on…I guess most of the facts written for Chuck Norris could easily apply to KG, only meaner.
In last night’s win over the Suns, Garnett scored 28 point, grabbed 11 rebounds and added 3 assists and 2 blocks not to mention a few mean faces here and there. Ask yourself why Channing Frye had possibly the worst game of his otherwise positive season.
I’ve come to the conclusion that Kevin Garnett hates the Suns. Please, enter the facts:
Kevin Garnett Career stats: 19.6 PPG, 10.8 Rebounds, 4.1 assist, 1.6 blocks per game (Hall of Fame numbers, no doubt). Over the last 6 seasons: 18 points, 9.9 rebounds. 3.2 assists per game.
Kevin Garnett vs the Suns over the last 6 season (2005-6 to the current one): 20.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Coincidence? I doubt, not with KG.
My Theory is simple and comes down to the Amare effect.
KG enjoyed playing against Stoudemire as a member of the Timberwolves (since Amare was useless on defense anyway nor did he care about it) and later, as a Celtic, he’s still angry at the Suns for not acquiring him for STAT.
The trade that never was (Garnett for Stoudemire while Steve Kerr kept offering Marion and usless draft picks) changed the course of our Suns, forever. Close your eyes and start thinking about Shaq, Coach D’Antoni, Defense on Duncan, Championships…
Ok, wake up now, I might have gone a bit too far, but who knows.
