The Suns are now officially a “losing team”. With Sunday 115-90 loss to the Mavs, no. 42 of the year, the Suns have secured themselves a sub .500 season. Hardly a surprise given the results in the last few weeks still it’s the first losing season since 2003-04 and only the third in the last 14 years.
Pending the last few games to be played the Suns 2010-11 record will represent a huge drop (minus 14 or 16 wins) from last year surprising 54-win season and great Playoff run.
“It’s very disappointing, because I feel that we’re a good enough team to first of all be in the playoffs” (Vince Carter, following April 8th loss to the Hornets). I couldn’t agree more.
In the coming weeks there will be time to think of what went wrong and what to save from this “up and down” season but most important we’ll have to ask if this group of players have something left or if we could officially close the book on the great Suns era of the last decade.
