Well how about a huge standing O for our man Jared Dudley who scored 25 points, 14 coming in the 4th quarter as he led five Phoenix Suns players who scored double digits in a 103-88 revenge win over the Sacramento Kings.
The Suns started the game awful, turning the ball over 8 times in the 1st quarter and the Kings capitalized by scoring 12 points off those 8 turnovers in the 1st quarter and the Suns trailed 12-2 after only 3 minutes into the 1st quarter. The Suns during the 1st quarter in a period of 91 seconds turned the ball over 5 times in a row and the Kings scored 8 points off those 5 turnovers. However the Suns were resilient and battled back into the game trailing only 21-25 after the 1st.
Once again Suns center Marcin Gortat got abused by young big man DeMarcus Cousins who had 8 points, 5 rebounds(2 offensive) in the 1st quarter alone; fortunately for the Suns and Gortat, Cousins did not see action again after the opening quarter.
The Suns came into the second quarter flat once again and found themselves trailing 21-30 after the Kings scored the first 5 points of the 2nd quarter however Sebastian Telfair & Shannon Brown each answered with a 3-pointer of their own. The Suns went on to outscore the Kings 29-19 in the 2nd quarter and never looked back.
The headline of the night however belonged to Mr. Jared Dudley who scored 25 points on 9-12 shooting, including 4 3-pointers made and Dudley only played 25 minutes on the night. Markieff Morris also contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds on the night, and Michael Beasley added 15 points, 6 rebounds and a couple of nice assists.
The Suns hung in there tonight and didn’t just give in once they were off to that absolutely horrendous start. The Suns locked in defensively holding the Kings to only 37% shooting from the field. The Kings were led in scoring by Thomas Robinson who scored 17 points on 5-15 shooting. The Suns will play the Golden State Warriors tomorrow night in Oakland and wrap up their preseason on Friday night against the Denver Nuggets on ESPN.
