According to a report this morning by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Phoenix Suns point guard Sebastian Telfair could be on his way across the border to the Toronto Raptors. Wojnarowski tweeted this moments ago:
“Toronto has emerged as the frontrunner to land Suns guard Sebastian Telfair in a trade, league sources tell Y! Sports.”
The Raptors have been working the phone-lines in search for a back-up point guard since moving Jose Calderon to the Detroit Pistons last month. John Lucas III is currently Toronto’s second-string point guard behind Kyle Lowry.
Toronto are 6-3 since the acquisition of Rudy Gay and are looking to make a run at the playoffs. The Raptors are currently five games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the eighth and final playoff spot in the east.
Telfair is on the final year of his contract and he’s set to reel in roughly $1.5 million dollars this season. The Suns have reportedly been asking for a future second-round draft choice in exchange for Telfair.
The NBA trade-deadline is now just hours away as all trades must be submitted to the NBA by 3 PM eastern time.
