1) Brian Shaw
There are so many reasons to love Brian Shaw. He’s experienced, he’s been around championship winning teams, and he’s spent years learning the art of coaching from the Zen Master himself. Not only that, but Shaw also spent 15-years in the NBA as a player and has won a couple of rings as a player with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Upon retirement, Shaw spent 2004-2011 serving as an assistant for the Lakers under Phil Jackson. After the Lakers hired Mike Brown to be the coach of the Lakers, Shaw moved on to the Indiana Pacers and is currently serving as an assistant coach for the second consecutive season with the Pacers.
Shaw is one of the most respected people around the association and he has the necessary experience to become a good head coach in the NBA. Shaw’s Pacers are still in the playoffs and that could be a huge reason why the Suns are taking their time with the whole hiring process. From my point of view, Shaw would be worth the wait.
