Suns Start Making Moves

Newly hired general manager Ryan McDonough. According to reports from the Arizona Republic, McDonough has already started to hand out pink slips to some of former GM Lance Blanks’ staff members.

This is a terrific sign for the Suns and Planet Orange as this is a sign that McDonough will get a chance to run his own show. Evidently, McDonough is set on gathering a department of “Master Evaluators” whom of which watches basketball at every level from the NBA to NCAA to the international games as opposed to concentrating in just one area.

McDonough excelled as a talent judge for the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics have drafted very well in recent years considering their typical draft-position. McDonough and the Celtics front office have been able to secure quality players like late picks such as Avery Bradley (19th overall), E’Tawun Moore (55th overall), MarShon Brooks (25th overall), and Jared Sullinger (21st overall).

According to the report, the Suns director of player persoennel John Treloar will stay with the team through the draft but he’s likely out the door come July. The Suns current scouts John Shumat, and Bubba Burrage as well as players program director Mark West are in the teams future plans as of right now.

Suns president of basketball operations Lon Babby, and Ryan McDonough are still in the midst of the process of finding a new head coach. According to league sources, 34-year old B.J Bickerstaff who’s an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets has emerged as one of the coaching considerations for McDonough.

There has been less than minor whispers coming from the Suns organization in terms of the coach hiring process but with the draft combine coming up this weekend it would be very ideal for the Suns to have their coach by then or at least have a shortened list of candidates.
