Sebastian Telfair was sent to the Raptor Raptors last month in a trade that brought Hamed Hadaddi and a future second-round draft choice to Phoenix. Well, the deal didn’t sit too well with Bassy.

“It sucks for me,” Telfair said in regards to the trade. “I feel like I’ve done everything they asked me to do. I’ve been professional. I just don’t see how with all the guys on the team we have and the way the season went, how does making the Suns better by trading me right now. I understand Kendall had to get an opportunity to play but (expletive) this is a man’s league. You’ve got to be able to just compete. You’ve got to be able to be competitive with your teammates and other guys. I think I brought that to the table and I was cheated out of that.”

“I’m bitter,” he said. “I’m a little bitter. I don’t have nothing personal against (my former teammates), love them guys but I’m bitter. I’m a little bitter. For one, I got to pick up and leave my family, my kids. Forget the business part of it, I’ve got to leave my kids home, by themselves now and I’m all the way in Toronto so (expletive) yeah, I’m bitter.”

“It sucks for me to be bitter because I got to understand somebody going to get the short end of the stick. Wesley Johnson was sitting on the bench the entire season. He was getting the short end of the stick now he’s out there on the floor. It just happens. My guy Shannon Brown, I watched him develop as a player these last two years, do everything they asked him to do, worked extremely hard and now he can’t even get on the floor.”

“I think last year we competed a lot better. I understand they’re going in a new direction, but I wished we would’ve known that this summer. I really can’t understand it. I’m not mad at nobody, but I don’t understand it.”

Sebastian Telfair came back to Phoenix a few nights ago in the Raptors uniform and was the key catalyst as Telfair recorded 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals in the Raptors 98-71 victory.

Bassy was traded for two reasons. First being that Lindsey Hunter wanted to carve out a permanent spot in the rotation for rookie Kendall Marshall, and the second being that Bassy’s contract was going to expire at the end of this season and the Suns simply wanted to get something in return for him, which they did.

Here’s what’s going on, Sebastian Telfair was simply a casualty on a rebuilding team. Was what the Suns did fair? Absolutely not. Kendall Marshall is far from the player Telfair is, but the Suns were pretty much forced to play Kendall Marshall and to give him a shot, after all, the Suns did spend a lottery pick on him.

Good news for Telfair. His contract expires after this season and he can head to any destination of his choosing. There certainly will be teams after Bassy given he’s one of the better back-up point guards in the NBA. Good luck Bassy, where ever you go, but in the meantime, make sure you find a good baby sitter.

Well as expected, Bassy is out the door. Marc Stein of ESPN.com this earlier this morning:

“Rumbles persist that Hamed Haddadi & second-rounder to Phoenix to bring Bassy Telfair to Toronto is likely outcome in final hour of deadline.”

Stein’s reports were deadly accurate. The Phoenix Suns will indeed receive Haddadi and a future second-round draft choice from Toronto in exchange for Telfair.

With Telfair now out of the picture, the back-up point guard role now fully belongs to Kendall Marshall.

Haddadi is in his fifth year in the NBA and has a career average of 2 points and 2.1 rebounds. Haddadi was mainly included in the deal mainly for salary cap reasons.

Sebastian Telfair is a great fit with the Toronto Raptors for many reasons. According to Kennedy, Telfair is close with Kyle Lowry, Alan Anderson and Rudy Gay as all of them train together every summer in Vegas. The Raptors have been on the market in search of a back-up point guard since Jose Calderon was dealt to the Detroit Pistons last month in the deal that brought Rudy Gay to Toronto.

Telfair is averaging 6 points, 2.5 assists while shooting 38% both from the field and from behind three-point line. However Telfair makes his money on the defensive side of the ball with his ball-hawking, nasty, in your face type of defense. John Lucas III is currently playing the role of back-up point guard in Toronto and Telfair will certainly be an upgrade over Lucas.

Jared Dudley tweeted this moments ago:

“RT <s>@</s>Chris_Broussard: Sebastian Telfair to Toronto For Hamed Haddadi (<s>@</s>BassyS31T is a great teammate and competitor! Good luck brother)”

With the addition of Haddadi, the Suns now have an extra center should they decide to move Jermaine O’Neal or Marcin Gortat or possibly both.

And as for Sebastian Telfair, good luck Bassy, it was a pleasure having you here in Phoenix.
